There is no button to turn off Spotify

There is no button to turn off Spotify

There is no way on my galaxy s21 to shut off Spotify. No stop button on app or widget. So out of nowhere Spotify will start blasting into my earbuds if I just barely touch them by mistake. I have to go to settings> spotify> force stop every time I want spotify to turn off.

Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

We understand your concern as it's quite annoying when music starts playing at loud volumes automatically sometimes. This functionality is depending on multiple factors in relation to Android devices and Bluetooth, rather than a setting that can be switched on/off in the Spotify app itself. You can find more info about this in this article, along with a solution that might work for you.

What you can try is to go into your phone's Settings >Connections > Bluetooth and click the gear icon and turn off audio under the buds if it's switched to on and see if that helps. You can also try blocking the touch setting on the earbuds, so that they don't activate by touching.

Something else that's possible on some devices is to go into the app settings for the Spotify app and switch off Autostart.

We understand how this can be upsetting and we've made sure to pass this on to the right folks. However, since this isn't completely dependent on Spotify and it vary across devices, we can't commit to a timeline for when or if this will be fixed.

Hope this helps. If you need a hand with anything else, we'll be right here.

Cheers!

I have the same problem. This could be fixed with a stop button. Not pause, stop. Return to the state the app was in on first boot. Song.Playing=None. If there's no song playing, Spotify won't be tempted to auto-resume it.

It's incorrect to say this isn't completely dependent on Spotify. It's a direct and immediate consequence of the decision not to provide a stop button.

I fixed it!!  Absolutely will work for anyone.  Long press the Spotify icon.  Press Uninstall.  Was just trying it and since it dosent do what I want it to do, I'm gone.
