Trouble playing downloaded podcast (Joe Rogan)

My Question or Issue

I have a problem when playing a downloaded Joe Rogan podcast.  Even though I have downloaded the podcast, if I lose my network connection, the podcast will stop playing and the green rotating circle appears on the screen.

Does the download function only download the audio but not the video?  Why would I not be able to play a downloaded podcast even if I lose my network connection.  My work is in an area with very poor network coverage and it makes it virtually impossible to listen to the podcast even though I have downloaded it.

Is there a way to turn off the video portion of the podcast when not needed?

This is happening to me as well and it is super annoying.  Why is my playback interrupted if I "downloaded" the entire episode?
