Did you follow all of the OP's (original poster's) instructions when you un and reinstalled? I was having the same problem with no result until I went back and cleared data before uninstalling again.
Motorola Droid 4 & Verizon, US (problem fixed)
Actually, yes, I got it to work now. I had tried to do that earlier today, but then it didn't solve itself, yet now it did.
Thanks!
The new / latest vesion does not appear to have a 'log out of spotify ' option. I have to turn my android phone off to prevent other devices being in Spotify pause mode.

Description
When skipping/browsing through songs (by swiping over the album pictures) the app will start playing a different song than the one I selected (usually the previous one or the next one).
A more detailed description, using numbered steps
1. I often browse / skip through songs (not sure what the correct English word would be, but I mean: swiping over the album picture to the next song). I often to this at a rather fast pace with shuffle on, until I find a song I like to play now.
2. When I see a song I like and I stop swiping it won't start playing that song, but a different one (usually the previous or the next one).
3. Which means I have to swipe one song back or forward to actually start listening to that song... it could also happen though that it then again starts playing a different song.
(May sound like a minor problem, but for me it is rather annoying, as this is usally the way I like to listen to music, and it makes it very annoying to make the app start playing the song I want to hear)
What I expected to happen
Start playing the song I selected. (duh 🙂 )
What actually happened
It starts playing a different song
