Unable of filter playlist on android

My Question or Issue

 I am able to serch my playlist on android which brings up all songs containing whatever im looking for but im unable to filter so the serched songs play within that filter. Is there a way to change from search to filter or anything? ive been trying to fix this problem on and off for months now
