My Question or Issue
Hi,
the issue i have is, that when i stream musk trough the app to the soundbar and than want to change the volume by using the mobilphone volume buttons, the volume jumps to 50% ( which is a jump from 8 to 25) which is not the intention.
I just want to make the music one click louder not 10 or 20 steps at once.
I never had this issue with my denon multiroom speakers or any other soundbar i had in between or still use in parallel.
LG told me to contact Spotify which I find a bit strange but i want to give it a try.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks and have a good week.

Hi all,
not sure what had been changed but the issue dissapeared:
Spotify APP version:
- 8.7.8.1206
LG FW:
- Main 2202221
- Micom 2109071
- chromecast 1.52.272222
Thanks and best regards
Hi there @connectlover,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community.
You can try logging out from your account, restarting your phone and your soundbar, restarting your router, and logging back in.
If that doesn't make any difference, can you let us know if it happens with any phone that you use to stream on the soundbar? Additionally, could you let us know the type of connection you're using? Is it Bluetooth, Connect, or anything else?
Keep us posted.
I have a LG DSP11RA with the same problem. When I connect my pixel 6 to the soundbar using the build-in Chromecast audio and use my phone volume buttons the volume jumps to 50% I is very very loud! Did you find a solution?
Hi,
i did the logging and restarting thing and it did not help.
No having a Pixel 6 Pro which also shows that issue, i would say, all phones i am using for streaming have the same issue, yes.
I am using spotify connect trough WiFi, but sometimes the soundbar is also just shown as chrome cast device and not as a spotify connect device.
I have now also tried to use a phone as a router and connected averything to there, and it is the same as well.
Hey there @Project2401 and @connectlover,
Thanks for your replies here.
We hope that we get it correctly, that both of you are having the same LG Soundbar device model LG DSP11RA and you're having issues with the volume control when streaming from your mobile Spotify app using the Connect feature. This might be connected to this device specifically, but we'll do our best to investigate this together some more.
Could you confirm if the issue is still occurring and present for both of you? If yes, could we also ask both of you for few more things taht will be very helpful for our further investigation of this matter:
This info will be useful very for us and will help our internal teams in the replication of this situation. As for the video file, you can send a link to it or attach it using the Insert Video option in the post editor.
Keep us posted, we'll be on the lookout for your reply.
Hi,
here are two video from the following devices:
Google Pixel 6 pro with Android 12
Galaxy Tab A (SM-T510) with Android 11
Iphone Xs with iOS 15.1
I added the sound bar to my google home (Turn on the sound bar -> sound mode to wifi mode -> open google home -> add the LG sound bar to a room). I think it's working normal now but I still have to give a number of tests.
Update: 04-02-2022 I have still the same problem my solution did not help sorry
I did some more test also following your video and I still have the same problem as in your video's
Hey @connectlover,
Thanks for the detailed info and the videos you've submitted. This is very helpful 🙂
@Project2401, could you please also send us the models of your devices and the version of Spotify on the device you cast from?
On another note, can you try to set the default volume on the LG Soundbar to something like 10 using the TV remote, not the remote from your cable provider. After that restart the device and check if the volume jumps to 50% when you connect with Spotify from your phone.
Keep us posted.
Hi Alex,
the remote you see in the Video is from an LG TV and there for does also work "stand alone" with an LG Soundbar.
If there is anything else i should try, let me know.
Hi @connectlover,
Thank you for keeping in touch.
We want to be completely honest here and let you know that we're not completely sure why this is happening. It sounds and looks as if your Sound bar is misinterpreting the volume command that's coming from the app.
However, the same volume commands are sent to all devices, so we don't really have a special connectivity mode for the LG sound bars. We doubt there's much we can do in this case as volume adjustments seem to be working fine on other devices. This most likely will require a firmware update to the sound bar.
We're sorry we're not able to give you a solution at this moment, but please make sure to always keep your apps up to date, as we're constantly optimizing the app to make these disruptions occur as little as possible.
We'll be around if there's anything else we can do for you.
