On my Nexus 5 under Settings>Data Usage It shows the Spotify app as only having used 7.60 KB which is clearly not accurate. What does the streaming show up as in my data usage? Or does it not?

Make sure your data usage cycle is set correctly and that you select the right dates to measure.
Did you find a solution to this problem? I too have a Nexus 5 not properly reporting Spotify data usage. It says the total is about 447MB, but Spotify usage is only 63KB. I've been streaming music for a couple hours a day so I know for a fact that Spotify has used the majority of that 447MB.
Might be a Nexus issue rather than a Spotify specific issue, but I'd love a solution!
I have the same behavior on Sony Xperia SP (running ver. 4.3). Spotify does not show up on the list.
Samething on my Nexus 5. After couple sessions on Spotify, my overall data usage shows 450+ MB but Spotify usage is like 12.5 KB in the Data Usage screen. Add up all the data usage and there were 400+ MB gap unaccounted for which I am sure it came from Spotify.
I am curious how Spotify managed to avoid Nexus 5 KitKat from tracking it's data usage.
Something to do with your phone. This is what mine says..

What's a Spotify Rock Star, and how do I become one?!

It may be an android bug. I use Onavo count and it alway shows higher usage for spotify that the android setting.
I might give you that if it was one person or one phone but from what I gather, there are atleast 3 different types / brands of phones where this is occuring: Nexus 5 (OP and maybe others), Nexus 4, Sony Xperia.
Also, I recently did a factory reset and re-image on my phone (running SlimRom if that is helpful) and I still (as I did before) see only 1.3 MB used by Spotify in datausage but overall data is at 800...all other apps seems to be correct on the DataUsage screen.
To prevent any additional charges to your phone I'd suggest that when you can connect to a WIFI network, that you download all the songs you want to listen to (this feature is only available to premium users) and only scroll though the catalog when you are connected to WIFI? 🙂

Thanks for the responses. @disposition21, add Samsung Galaxy Light running Jelly Bean to the list. Happening to my son's phone too. 25 KB instead of 500 MB.
@Super Wisdom, I'm not worry about the overage charges. I'm mainly curious how Spotify avoid data usage reported by stock android data usage. It is the only app that I know that managed to accomplish this feat.
