When in offline mode, unavailable songs still try to play...

When in offline mode, unavailable songs still try to play...

I have been using spotify for a little over a year now.

I have all the songs i want to work while in my car downloaded so that they are available offline.

I put spotify into offline mode, then go to library, then songs and click "shuggle play" at the top.

Before, this would work fine, as I had my entire library downloaded to be available offline.

I drastically reduced the songs i have downloaded to free up space on my phone.

Had to uninstall and reinstall to get the memory free'd up.

So, now when i click "shuffle play" while in offline mode, it ALWAYS 100% of the time picks an appropriate downloaded song to start off with, then 90% of the time it goes to the 2nd song on the list and just stops because its not a downloaded song.

Why is spotify trying to play non-downloaded songs when in offline mode?

using samsung galaxy s6

spotify version: 8.4.19.792 armV7

No problem @macke2dope!

Have you tried reinstalling yet? I know this can be an annoying question (sorry) but that's the primary solution to these issues surprisingly.

If you have tried anything already you can let me know and I can skip through to where I think you should go with this next.

Not this instance I havent.

I Just did not long ago. So didn't think to again. Didnt want to have to redownload everything again. lol

I'll reinstall and redownload everything and will get back with you.

thanks

If I'm not toolate, before reinstalling, try turning off the spotify setting "Show unplayable songs".

I've been having this same problem. I think it's a playlist problem though. I've been noticing that songs I've downloaded through albums seem to show up more on shuffle, but I figured I was just imagining it or the algorythm showed a preference or something. But now I've reinstalled and only downloaded playlists, and just as the original post described, the first song is downloaded but everything after is a saved non-downloaded song. I really like using shuffle for the car because I don't have to mess with it, it would be great if it actually worked.

Hey @macke2dope, I think I figured it out.

If your problem was the same as mine, songs from playlists weren't coming up when you shuffled your library, you have to make sure the songs you want are actually in the library. What I realized is that when you add a song to a playlist, it doesn't automatically go to your library. I went through on the desktop app and clicked the checkmark/plus to add them, went offline on my mobile, and boom the problem was gone. Every track that came up actually played and was downloaded.

Hope this helps
