When playing podcasts via the URI the same episode gets played over and over again

When playing podcasts via the URI the same episode gets played over and over again

Hi there!

So, I want to play a podcast via Spotify on a Google Home mini. I call the URI of the podcast and the podcast plays. So far, so good. After I have finished the episode (the lastest one gets played automatically), I do something else. The next time I start the same podcast, that very same episode gets played. I would like it to play the next episode that has not been listened to.

What am I doing wrong?

I am on an Android Pixel 6. Using the Spotify Home Assistant integration and my Google Home Mini.

Thanks

Christian

This is also happening to me with the app (version 8.8.32.533) on iPhone 14. Started yesterday and I have signed in and out twice, updated my phone, and did a clean reinstall and nothing has worked so far.

Hey there folks,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

In this case, we'll need to gather as much info as possible here. Is this happening on all of your devices? Does the issue occur with multiple podcasts or only with a specific one? Are you able to listen to another podcast when you stream directly via your phone?

On another note, would you mind testing this with a different account? If a family member has a Spotify account, it'd be great if you ask them to log in on your device to see if they'll also experience this.

Lastly, if this behavior occurs only with one podcast, we'd like you to share the URI with us so we can test this on our end.

We'll be on the lookout for your update.

Well... that's a lot of questions from you. 🙂 Judging by the comment of kelsmilmine it happens on various platforms with different podcasts. I cannot really try this with a different account and my smart speakers. Does this not happen on your platforms too?

Hey @xteaun,

Thanks for getting back to us.

We're unable to reproduce this behavior on our end, could you send some more info so we can investigate this further?

In addition, would you mind posting a quick video of your experience? This way we can get a clear idea of how things look on your end. You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. If the attachment is too big - we'd suggest that you upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
