Hi,
I use spotify since one year on different devices without having any issues.
I´ve used a htc sensation, motorola xoom in the past and since Feb of this year I hear music with a Nexus 7 and a Sony Xperia Z. All worked until yesterday.
Yesterday my new Sony Xperia tablet Z arrived, and for sure one of the first apps was spotify. I had no problems with logging in, but after that, a complete white screen. Ok, maybe an issue with the new tablet, I thought.
I tried on my phone which was playing music the whole day before yesterday. But, a complete white screen. And the same issue on my Nexus 7.
I tried all the described steps like killing the process, clearing data and cache, re-installing and so on, on the sony devices.
After that I tried it again on my Nexus 7 without internet connection and it worked.
So this is my only workaround to hear "a bit" of music. Don´t let connect the Nexus 7 to internet, so that I can hear the downloaded playlists. All the downloaded playlists on my Sony Xperia Z are gone because of clearing data and cache. So the Nexus 7 is the only device, which has a bit of downloaded music.
So, what am I doing wrong? Isn´t it possible to log in on three devices? Or it´s an issue of the spotify app? Please help. The premium account only works for me, if the android app works. Without this feature I have to cancel my account. Fortunately there are some other streaming services out there.
But it´s unexplainable to me, how an app can run into this issue, simply since logging in on a third device.
Thanks
I have the exact same problem, is this there an issue with the servers?
btw: I am only using it on one device (Galaxy S3). Was working fine before (last time I checked was 3 days ago), only white screen today. So probably the issue is not related to the number of devices.
Can you guys please check that you have the latest facebook app installed and see if that fixes things for you?
Latest Facebook-App is installed on my Xperia Z.
On my Nexus 7 I haven´t installed it, and I won´t.
But I´m not logging in using facebook, so why should this be an issue?
Hey Joe,
Thanks for your reply.
I do have the latest facebook app installed. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the fb app, still the same problem.
Peter
Hmmm. If you haven't yet, could you please try a clean reinstall.

Clean reinstall done on sony xperia z.
The Sony Tablet arrived yesterday. So it was clean.
And on my Nexus 7 I won´t do a clean reinstall, because I will loose all my downloaded playlists and I´m listening to these at this time.
@toarni.........I can't reproduce this on my Nexus 7. When you mention connecting to the internet, do you mean over your home Wifi or mobile data? Does this happen with wifi off and mobile data on and the other way around?
Hi Joe,
I have the Nexus 7 Wifi-only version.
If Wifi is turned off or there is no Wifi reachable Spotify works.
If it has Wifi (with Internet) I get the white screen.
Ah, thanks and this is on a network where you haven't had problems in the past?
yep.
In three networks. Home, Work and Home of my parents...Nothing has changed in these three networks.
Hi. Are you using Tasker, Automagic or anything similar? If so, could you try disabling.
Reinstall fixed it for me. I think the issue was related to the sdcard in my phone crashing.
Thanks for the help.
Awesome. Glad it works 🙂
Hi Joe,
I´m not using any special apps.
Just a few apps for reading news, listening to some music or watching movies.
No social networks or apps which affect the system or other apps.
Hi toarni. I'm totally out of ideas so I'm going to escalate this to the tech guys to see if they can help.
Hi Joe,
no problem. Thank you anyway...
don't search the cause of the problem in other apps or in your phone settings. The cause is a hang of the spotify service.
To solve it when it happens, goto to manage Apps\running and kill the spotify service and the process. Then restart spotify and it should work.
"it may have something to do with somecode that's buried deep in the app" ...
I am having the same problem. It started this week too. My screen goes totally blank when I select music. I don't want to pay for something that isn't working. I've done everything that is suggested and still having problems. Who can help us???????
I'm using an old SCH-i405 and I'm having the same problem, starting today. I uninstalled and reinstalled, and updated facebook, and just a white screen still.
