Why can't i resume my last played song after exiting the app?

I can't resume songs when i leave the app and come back to the app. It just doesn't work. I have to skip the song completely

Make sure that Spotify isn't being restricted by your battery settings and is excluded from any power saving or optimizing software as they may hinder the app's performance. Also, check if Spotify is allowed to function in the background. You should find these options either in Settings > Battery or in Settings > Apps > Spotify.
