android (samsung galaxy siii) won't go past login screen

android (samsung galaxy siii) won't go past login screen

Hi,

I am a spotify premium user and I uninstalled spotify on my android as it was permanently offline. when i reinstalled i can't login at all.

I have searched for fixes and have tried checking for a space after my user name (there isn't one) and downloading the app from this page www.spotify.com/uk/download/previews/ (downloaded fine, won't login)

I have cleared the cache, reset numerous times and still nothing. When i click login, it says "logging in" for a minute, then goes back to "login".

Please help.

Hi 🙂

First of all - that preview is the same as the one in the market/older than the one in the market now.

Second of all, have you tried clearing all the data from the android app in the App Settings android screen?

Hi Liam,

Thanks for that! I thought that was the case, but was getting desperate!

Cleared all the data as far as i know, and restarted afterwards too.

  1. Ensure you're using the Google Play version.
  2. Wipe all Spotify app data.
  3. Reboot.

Are you using a custom rom/rooted?

Hi,

Done all that and still nothing. In fact, now it doesn't even change to "logging in", just stays at "login".

Not using a custom rom/rooted - assume if i was i would know what it was!

Yes, you would know what it was 😉

Now - you may not like this next step 😞 And you don't have to do it - but it may work! (It also may not).

Factory/Hard reset your phone 🙂

I would uninstall Spotify, check the memory card + system partition that is available without rooting, to see if you find folders that says Spotify - delete them, - reinstall Spotify client -> see if it works. If not, then just Backup the device and Factory / hard reset like Liam suggests.

Thanks Both, I was just about to reset the device when i tried it one last time and it logged me in and started working! However, it remains offline and will not go online. Do you have any suggestions on this one?!

Seems to be a bit buggy on the android. I had it for ages on the iphone and never had any problems. 😞

Thanks,

I use it on my android S2 and have not had any issues 😞

Remember to check your network connection, and make sure you have no ad blockers or anything running on your phone.

When I got stuck in offline mode in the past, I managed to get it back online by heading over to the settings menu, going to Apps, selecting Spotify and selecting Force Stop.

When opening the application again, it seemed to connect just fine. You might want to try this too.
