Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out!

This sounds like odd app behaviour - let's try removing the app's cached data as shown here and then logging out of the app and back in again twice in a row to trigger a manual sync of your settings.  In case the issue persists after that, let us know the following details:

  • How are you starting the playback? Do you just tap on any song in one of your playlists?
  • The device this is occurring on (make + model + its OS version)
  • Your Spotify app version

We'll be on the lookout for your reply!

thanks for the replay but it didn't work out.

the playback is started from library -> select playlist "favorite songs" (the one where songs are added to when circled + is used) -> select any song from list -> first one in list starts playing

App is on update 8.9.80.581 on Huawei VNS-L21 with Android 6

It has worked before but it seems to have stopped working with latest update. On a different phone (Xiaomi 12 Pro) it works fine to start any song from that list on an other account.

Hey @Jim_W,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

There should be a new version available for the app on your phone. You can update it by following the steps on this page and see if you notice any difference.

Another option is to do a clean reinstall of the app. This will ensure that you're running the latest version as well.

Shouldn't that do the trick, it would be great if you could send us a video showing how things look from your end. Also, just to confirm, do you notice this behavior with any other playlists, or does it only happen with Liked Songs?

Let us know how you get on!
