I am new to Speotify.

When not streaming, are songs downloaded to the mobile device?

If so, when listening, is there data usage?

Yes, it will use a little bit of data.

Because it will report your track plays and scrobble tracks to Facebook and Last.FM still (unless you force offline mode from the settings menu). ^^

Thanks for the quick response. I am a retiring Zune user so I thought I could use my phone with Spotify instead of the Zune player.

It can be used in an offline mode as a player with no data connection?

Yes, exactly. You can use it offline with Spotify Premium.
