My Question or Issue

When I listen to Spotify with just my phone's speakers, the music will randomly pause or lag out when my phone turns off. It plays for a few seconds and usually just completely stops or resumes for a few seconds and then pauses again. However, if I turn my phone back on without unlocking it, the music will resume and play like normal, and if I adjust the volume while the phone screen is off, the music will resume for a few seconds and then pause again. When I look at the music playing on my phone from my computer though, it looks like the progress bar is still moving forward, so the music isn't actually fully pausing for some reason. The problem also does not occur when my phone is connected to my Bluetooth headphones. I've tried turning off battery optimization, fully reinstalling Spotify, turning off adaptive connectivity, turning off gapless playback and equalizer, but so far nothing's worked.

Hey @bryanrzhao,

Thanks for reaching out and kudos for the troubleshooting you've already tried.

This most definitely sounds like an issue with your phone's settings, so in this case we'd recommend either checking out this guide or reaching out to Google support for a more detailed guide on what you need to adjust to prevent this from happening.

In any case, make sure to post what worked for you as this will help others facing the same issues with this particular device.

Thanks!

Same thing is happening on my device and I have a Samsung Z-Fold 5. I've done the same steps as he and nothing. It's only on this device and not on the Bluetooth speakers

Hey @Donnycardwell,

Thanks for joining the thread!

Are you experiencing the exact same symptoms as @bryanrzhao or is anything from what he has described different on your end?
I'd advise checking if your device has enough free storage (at least 2GB), removing the app's cached data and, if the issue still persists after that - giving the full clean reinstall of the app a go.

Should the issue keep on appearing even after this has been done - check out this page. It has an extensive list of apps and settings that could be limiting an app's performance on a Samsung device.

Hope this helps! Keep us posted 🙂

hi,

the problem seems to randomly appear from time to time, but doesn't seem to occur while charging? i also have spotify open on my computer and when the music randomly pauses from my phone, the music pauses on my computer and it switches the device playing from my phone to my computer. closing spotify on my computer does not solve the issue either

Hey @bryanrzhao

Thanks for your reply.

That's very odd. Would you mind trying to log in to your account on a different mobile device to see if the same happens? This will help us determine if the issue is device related. Also, could you give another internet connection a go? If your devices were connected to WiFi, try with cellular data or vice versa.

On another note, could you ask a friend or a relative to log in to your devices and see if they can replicate this behavior with their own account?

We'll be on the lookout.

“Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens.”– Maria von Trapp

it randomly will shut itself off when I turn my screen off, I have tried the usual things : delete, re-install, clear cache, made sure my settings are correct (battery restrictions, app restrictions) when I deleted and re-installed it worked for three days before it acted up again. I'm at a loss as most of my use is with my phone screen turned off, and using the onboard speaker on my phone, Phone is a fossibot 101 phone with a rear marine speaker. It has done this to just about all of my phones, it is not the phone!!! I have tried several suggestions that were made on spotifys help and no luck. I don't want to cancel but the app is useless if it doesn't work!
