Hi,
As you can guess, I use Android M (concept for Android Sony Xperia Z3 Compact) and Spotify keeps refusing to download songs to my external SD. The SD is empty (32GB) and works perfectly fine with other apps. I even filled up my internal storage to make sure. Unfortunately, it still doesn't work.
Anyone else with this problem?
Thanks a lot.
PS: pls don't point to some FAQ or other solutions like reinstalling, deleting spotify folders etc, I tried that all.
PPS: a lot of people are asking for an option to set the download location; please, please!!
Solved! Go to Solution.
Sorry these instructions do not work for other phones, only for that Moto model.
I can confirm it does NOT work for LG G4.
Thanks.
robashroxi, thanks, but this does not work nor for LG, nor for Sony, nor for Samsung (CM13)... I tried already all solutions and still any of them helped.
SONY XPERIA Z3 MARSHMALLOW CONCEPT
1. Format your SD card as Internal. (This might take a few tries during which you get errors. At one point you will still get the error but it will actually work and you will suddenly have more Internal memory. This is the required result.)
2. Install Spotify. DO NOT RUN IT.
3. In Spotify section in Apps, enable permissions for Storage.
4. In Settings > Storage & USB > three dots choose Migrate Data.
5. Fire up Spotify.
6. Profit.
Your apps remain on internal storage and Spotify data goes to the microSD. Well done Sony, although this could have been a tad more intuitive.
I found a better solution: don't renew your subsibcription.
I didn't expected that, but after I coulnd't use Spotify premium as I wish, I fot perfectly used to a live without premium; I use Amazon Prime Music, my own Music uploaded to Google Play Music and on desktop the free version of Spotify.
Saves me money I can invest in buying music or beer 😉 Thank you Spotify!
