spotify not connecting to Google Home

My Question or Issue

Spotify on my P20 Huwaei will not connect to Google Home.   I hear the audible sound as if its connecting but on screen on the phone - its just stuck saying Connecting, 

Version of Spotify 8.5.18.932  updated 7th August

Have tried rebooting phone / Google Home

Have tried unlinking and relinking the account in Google Home application

have tried from a tablet - and connected straight away

Any help appreciated.

Hello @anigelcook,

Thanks for getting in touch. Let's start off with how to set Spotify up on your Google Home. Just in case you missed something.

1. Download the Google Home app and open it.
2. Tap the menu in the top-left corner.
3. Tap Account preferences, then Linked media accounts.
4. Select Spotify and tap Link Account, then Log in to Spotify.
   Note: If you don’t already have a Spotify account, you can create one by tapping Sign up to Spotify. After this, you’ll need to start the account link process from the beginning.
5. Tap OKAY to confirm.

After doing this, you can ask your Google Home to play music for you. Just say "OK Google", then...

• “Play my Discover Weekly on Spotify”.
• “Turn up the volume on Spotify”.
• “Play some classical music on Spotify”.
• “Pause this song on Spotify”.

If this didn't work, please send us over a screenshot of the 'connecting' message you see. Hope it works though!
