2023 Tesla Model 3 and Local Iphone Files

• I have a 2023 Tesla Model 3 and am using Spotify Premium to listen to music.
• Great for the most part but I have at least 100 mp3’s that are either out of print tunes and/or original music recorded by family members (the key is none are availabble on Spotify)
• My son told me that you can listen to “Local Files” on my Iphone 15 Pro by turning on the “show Audio Files from This device” toggle.  After doing this, the local files are visible on my Iphone and some/most/all can be played on my Iphone.
• That is where the good news ends - once I am in the car (Tesla), the song count reflects that there are local files there - but the title are not there and thus not playable in the car.
• I have tried everything I have found online six ways from Sunday to make this work.  No matter what the method I have tried - local files show up on my phone, on my desktop, or both but NEVER in the car.

Help please -  this is driving me crazy.

If this is “just the way it is”, does the same problem exist if I had Apple Music Subscription?

Thanks for reaching out.

It's currently not possible to sync local files to your Tesla's Spotify app, however, you should be able to work around this limitation by playing the files on your phone and streaming the audio signal directly to your car's infotainment system via Bluetooth. For more info on how to set this up, we'd recommend reaching out to Tesla support or checking the owner's manual.

I appreciate the answer but the “workaround” is not how people listen to music.  I don’t use my app for a 16 song playlist and then switch to bluetooth in order to play the ones that are not there.  So, the answer is, “that’s just the way it is” and “you cannot do it”.

That being the case - I still have the open question regarding Apple Music - would the same problem exist if I had an Apple Music Subscription?  I don’t want to switch services but I do want to be able to easily include my local files on my playlists in my car (2023 Tesla Model 3).

Thanks for your reply.

Perhaps there's been a misunderstanding - my point was to use your phone's screen and Spotify app to navigate your playlists and play your music while casting your phone's audio signal to the car using a Bluetooth connection. 

This should make for a seamless listening experience (although not as comfortable as using the car's display and app) provided that your local files are playable on your phone. If they're not, then please do let us know as this is something we can try to help with.

Regarding your question about Apple Music, this is something best answered by Apple Support so I'd recommend getting in touch with them for more info on the features they offer.
