I lost the adapter for my Car Thing and want to order a new one

I lost the adapter for my Car Thing and want to order a new one

I just bought the Car Thing and I’m excited to use it but I lost the power adapter for it. I tried using another car charger adapter but it did not work. Is there a way I can order a new adapter?

Hey @JohnnyG2429

If Car Thing doesn't work with a specific power adapter, then it means it is not providing enough power to Car Thing.

It should work if you use a car power adapter that provides at least 12 watts (12 W) to the USB port. I have found that 12 watts will work, but you can also use a port that provides more power.

A common car power adapter available is 24 watts total with 2 USB ports (12 watts for each USB port) and some of them have more watts per port such as 20 watts per port (40 watts total). If you're looking to charge a phone or other devices as well it might be a good idea to get one with more watts per port so you can fast charge most of the newer phones.

In the manual here:

https://carthing.spotify.com/guides/user-manual

It says:

Electrical rating

Car Thing: 5.0V Max ⎓ 1.2A Max

Power adapter: Electrical Rating: 5.0V ⎓ 3.1A

Power

Average power consumption, operational: 5W

Peak power consumption: 10W

Idle power consumption, 12V plug: 0.06W"
