Vocal/instrumental balance way off with Car Thing

Vocal/instrumental balance way off with Car Thing

Device

Samsung Galaxy 9+ and Car Thing

Operating System

Android

I installed my Car Thing today.  Easy!  Everything worked just the way it was supposed to.  Since the Bluetooth in my 2015 Nissan Versa Note has never worked right with my Android, I used my aux cable.  However, when playing through Car Thing, the instrumentals are so loud and the vocal part of the track is so quiet that I can barely hear the words.  This doesn't happen when I play directly from Spotify on my phone or over Bluetooth headphones, and it's never happened before with the aux cable alone.  I browsed through the topics, but I don't see that anyone else is having this issue.

My app does say the Car Thing needs to update, but I don't know if that will solve the problem.

Hi there @MPinAR,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. We'd like to take a closer look into this.

In this case we suggest that you update the Car Thing so that you're running the latest version of it.

On another note, does this occur on one specific song or multiple songs?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Take care!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

It happens on every song I play through Spotify using aux in the car now, whether I'm using Car Thing or not, although it didn't happen before.  I bought a new aux cable, so I will see if that helps, but I wasn't having problems with it before.

I have automatic updates turned on, but Car Thing doesn't seem to update.

Hi again @MPinAR,

In this case, if automatic updates are enabled in your phone’s app settings, Car Thing should update automatically. Otherwise, a message will appear on Car Thing when an update is available. You can choose to update with a cellular connection or wait until you have WiFi.

Lastly, tell us if the issue persists with the new aux cable.

Keep us in the loop.

It finally did update itself (I don't know what triggered this, as I already had auto updates on and there's wifi in my garage).  Between that and my new aux cable, no more problems.  Thanks!

Hey @MPinAR,

Thanks for letting us know that the update went through!

The updates get downloaded and installed automatically when released, so it might take more time in some cases 🙂

Take care.
