My Question or Issue

When listening to podcast, the controls (play, pause etc) stop working, both on the cara buttons, in the full app view and in the "menu screen" block item

Sometimes parking the car solves it,otger times an infotainment reboot is needed to regaing control, but it rarely last more than 1 or 2 "trips"

Hey there  @cjsimony

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

In this case, we suggest that you reach out directly to Volvo here so they can take a closer look at what might be causing this behavior and further assist you with it.

If you need a hand with anything else, the Community is here for you.

“Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens.”– Maria von Trapp

Hello

I have the Spotify app installed in my Volvo Car OS (Android-based). The app is a (very) stripped down version of the phone app, so when I use it I still have to use the phone (iPhone) to perform some operations (such as opening the album by tapping on the song). This of course only works when the apps on phone and car connect with each other - and that connection is unpredictable and unstable: sometimes connects, sometimes doesn't, sometimes connects and drops, sometimes connects but every operation takes forever (such as about a minute between tapping the song on phone and it starting to play on car).

Tried reinstalling, logging out/in, etc.

Anyone with similar experiences, advice?

P.S. I wish I did not have to rely on that connection at all and the car app had all the features. I am guessing that the features are stripped to minimize interactions with it, but the result is the need to use phone anyway.

Having the same issue on my brand new volvo xc60. Latest android and latest version of spotify. New songs not adding to playlist, getting playlist and songs not always working, have to go restart the app to work. I can write an essay about how much is wrong with this app and what can be better. Have starting to use my phone spotify app instead. Please fix and I am willing to work with u to fix and test. of the below information is required. However, the more you provide the easier it will be for us to try and help.

Hey @MišiakS90,

Thanks for posting in the Community!

If the quality is normal via Bluetooth, then it's possible that there's an issue with the cable you're using. To test this, could you check if the sound quality is bad even when you're using other apps and the cable?

Keep us posted 🙂

Hello,
It isn’t about cable. I tried few of them. I used android as well as
iPhone, same output. It is markant difference. I believe this issue is with
every Volvo as I found many topics on the web but no solution.
When I go thrue app sound is great when CarPlay or Android auto, it is
poor.

Hi @MišiakS90,

Thanks for the reply. Could you elaborate a bit more on how exactly the sound quality deteriorates? Is there cracks and noise in the sound, is the fidelity simply very low and sounds get mixed together, does it stutter and interrupt?

Let us know how it goes.

The quality if go through cable and connected to CarPlay or Android Auto is like play it on the old sound system. Music is quieter, lower bass,…..

For me it is like when I compare without equaliser and with equaliser on steroids. CarPlay and Android auto is without equaliser and Bluetooth is like on super steroids with colourful sound.

Hey @MišiakS90,

Thanks for the clarification. This is indeed an odd issue at hand.

Usually this type of issue would present the other way around - Cable is more stable and richer than a Bluetooth connection.

In this case if this issue is persistent through multiple cables then maybe it is an issue on the connective side of the car. Is it an integrated USB port or an external addon port? Could you try with a different port? Does this also manifests itself when trying to listen to content through another music platform? Could you try and see if it is only affected when using Spotify?

Let us know how it goes, we`ll be on the lookout.
