Ads freeze the player

Ads freeze the player

Every time an ad tries to play, it freezes up the entire player and I’m forced to close it down and restart it. This is especially true if playing through a web browser. Happens on both my ipad and iphone, and across all web browsers. My ios version is up to date as are alI my apps. I have no ad-blocks or vpns running. Scrolling through the topics in this help section, I’ve seen others posting this same issue for 10 years now. The moderators just post the same generic fixes that don’t actually help anyone. This leads me believe that Spotify’s tech dept either doesnt know how to fix it, or more likely, have no desire to try to fix it. So my question is directed to all the other users out there. Anyone find a solution yet, or is it time to find another platform?

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with ads freezing the player on Spotify. I know that can be frustrating, especially when you just want to enjoy your favorite tunes. I would like to inform you that Spotify is aware of some technical issues faced by users and is constantly working to improve its platform. Recently, updates and adjustments have been made to the app, which may temporarily affect the functioning of some features, such as ad playback. The development team is working hard to fix these issues as quickly as possible.

We understand that this may cause some inconvenience, but we ask for a little patience while we work to resolve these problems. We believe that soon you will be able to enjoy Spotify without unwanted interruptions.

 

In the meantime, we suggest that you keep an eye on app updates and, if possible, share your experiences with us so that we can continue to improve the service for all of our users.

 

Once again, we appreciate your feedback and hope that you continue to enjoy Spotify. We wish you many musical discoveries and amazing moments with our beloved musical companion!

using spotify in chrome browser and after 1-5 songs it will stop at the end of the song (like 3:25/3:25) and wont do anything. it wont let me skip, rewind, choose a different song, it just freezes. only refreshing the page has been my temporary fix but it repeats and i cannot fix it.

To fix this problem, I would recommend clearing your browser's cache and cookies. I will provide instructions for Chrome, but most browsers follow a very similar process.

 

1. Make sure you're on the newest version of Chrome. Click on the hamburger menu and go to Help > About Chrome.

Chrome will auto-update if there is one available.

2. Clear your browser's cache and cookies. On the sidebar, on the same update page, click on Privacy and security, and Clear browsing data. 

Click on the advanced tab, and select Cookies, Cache, and Hosted app data with the time range set to all time.

3. Restart Chrome by clicking on the hamburger menu and clicking Exit.

I'd also recommend clearing your Hosts File. Please follow these steps.
