Bad transitions

Bad transitions

Within the album ‘The Wall’, from Pink Floyd, the transitions from ‘happiest days of our lives’ too ‘another brick in the wall pt2’ the transition is extremely inaccurate. It was fine months ago on Spotify but now the transition is messed up again ( I’ve seen that the same problem happened in 2016 aswell ), nevertheless the transition in ‘bring the boys back home’ too ‘comfortably numb’ there’s also a disconnect ( it’s not as bad as the first problem but still very uneasy too deal with ). Fix these PROBLEMS, please and thank you.

My Question or Issue

The transitions between songs on The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd are messed up on the 2011 remaster. The worst one is the transition between Money and Us and Them being completely ruined. I hope this gets fixed because one of the album's core strengths is its seamless playback.

Hi Jeremy, thank you for your prompt response.

I tried screen recording it but there was no audio, I did it multiple times and restarted my phone but had no luck. When I screen recorded a YouTube video, however, there was audio, so I can only presume that it's a Spotify restriction on Android or something.

Nevertheless, here is the album URL:

https://open.spotify.com/album/2WT1pbYjLJciAR26yMebkH?si=XIFzyMc1TH6cxi-X7Uw1BQ

By the way, this may not be important, but my friend in the US doesn't have this issue, whilst my friends in the UK do.

Thanks again,

Ishan

All right, will do. Thank you.

I also noticed the weird transition from track 3 to 4. I gave up listening to The Wall on Spotify because of this. Luckily I still got the CD.

This is an issue I have noticed as well. It is not to do with particular devices, this inaccurate transition is on Spotify across all devices. I believe the versions of tracks 4, 5 and 19 are taken from a compilation album rather than being the original album versions meaning that the transitions into these songs are not very smooth. For anyone concerned with enjoying the full album experience, this does ruin an otherwise excellent album and and it would be great if the album could be rectified to include the original versions of these songs. Thanks

If the transitions sound good to you, you clearly are not familiar with the albums. Compare to the CDs. Pink Floyd are reasonably popular, you should have no trouble finding them.

This issue is still ongoing unfortunately, I haven't been able to enjoy the albums for at least 1 year now.

I am almost certain the problem is caused by this compilation album:

https://open.spotify.com/album/5M3xSoAppSULWAlt1CdHC9

The songs in there are mixed to transition better from one to another in that compilation and these edited songs are now also being used in their original albums.

Please fix this soon because I'm considering switching to a different platform because of it.

I made the same reply in another thread in the hopes of getting more attention on the matter.

I'm guessing in an effort to reduce storage space Spotify is retaining only one version of certain songs that are included across multiple original albums and compilations, but why does the "best of" version get to be the master?

This has been a problem for almost 3 years now!! It is ridiculous. Not only The Wall, but other albums like for example Wish You Were Here use the versions from the "A Foot In The Door" compilation. Why is no one doing anything about this?

As many other people have noticed, there is a problem in Pink Floyd albums on Spotify. A lot of the tracks are not their original versions that should appear on the albums, and instead are masters lifted from the "The Best Of Pink Floyd: A Foot In The Door" compilation. Some examples are "The Happiest Days of Our Lives" from "The Wall" album, "Have a Cigar" and "Wish You Were Here" from "Wish You Were Here" album. All of those tracks are wrong versions for their respective albums resulting in awkward transitions between the tracks. This problem has been going on for almost 3 years. Please fix this problem.

This issue is also on apple music at present. Pls can this be fixed or do we have to contact Pink Floyd ourselves to send the correct audio file?

This could be the best solution. I don't know if there's an email for their management but if it's a problem on apple music too then that could be the answer - one would hope that the band themselves wouldn't want their albums to be broken up in this way

If you find where we could contact the management, send it here, so we can spam them. The more we send, the sooner it will be fixed. This has gone on for too long.

I'll try contacting Roger Waters via Twitter (X). He's a perfectionist and would turn to green if he knew about this ...

@Eni, You obviously have no idea what you're talking about here.

I suggest to remove this useless compilation album, which is most probably causing all the problems.
