Collaborative Playlists Still Not Working

Collaborative Playlists Still Not Working

My Question or Issue

I saw that the issue with collaborative playlists not being editable by collaborators is marked as solved, but it still does not work for me.

I've shared the playlist using the "Invite collaborators" link, had the other user add the playlist to their profile with the heart icon, and they are still unable to add or remove songs.

Hi @afrazo,

It's possible that they're opening the playlist in the Web Player, which doesn't support collaborative playlists yet. Could you ask them to copy the invite link and paste it in the desktop/mobile app's search bar? That should do the trick. You can also generate a new invite link, if you want to.

If the issue persists, ask them to first remove the playlist from their library and then repeat the aforementioned process.

Cheers 🙂

Hi there @afrazo,

Thanks for reaching out. Adding to the library isn't enough, they need to follow the link to become collaborators. What exactly happens when they open the link provided by you? Some screenshots of the behaviour would be very helpful.

Keep us posted.

Yup, they follow the link and end up on the playlist page. There doesn't seem to be an option here for me to upload an image, but I don't think it would help in this case, it's literally just the playlist page, but with the URL as the link I get when I click "Invite collaborators".

This was it! Thanks. I'd suggest stating this in the docs and guides, as it doesn't seem to be stated anywhere. As far as I can see, there's not even mention that the search bar can be used for URLs. What makes it even more confusing is that when you click the link, it'll open in a web browser without complaint or indication that it hasn't worked.

Hey @afrazo,

Thank you for keeping in contact.

We're glad to know that everything is working fine by copying the link in the search bar. We also appreciate your feedback regarding this behavior and the time you took following the process and sharing what worked for you.

In case you need anything else, remember that we're just a post away.

Cheers!

I have created this playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7Cp5sK587q8M41LbsLNSJo?si=6358945d040f4cc5
And would like to have collaborators. I have shared the invitation link, but only one collaborator is able to add songs. I also have updated the app and I'm using the apple version for mac Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon)
1.2.40.599.g606b7f29

I'm a premium user and I made a collaborative Playlist. When I added collaborators all the people who had premium accounts were able to access and edit the Playlist fine but the one with a free account was not able to edit the list. The "add song to this Playlist" button dose not show up for them when they view the Playlist. I checked and it shows/lists them as a collaborator . I've tried/sent the link multiple times and have tried closing and reopening. It's still not working for them. How do I fix this?

Why do I pay 18.99 NZD a month to have to crack the Da Vinci Code to make a link work?

Hi there folks,

Thanks for your replies in this thread.

Something that bear in mind is that the link you generate is only valid for 7 days. This means you need to generate a new link if that time's passed. Try sending a new link and let us know what happens when the users try to join in. If they get any error message, screenshots would help us better understand what's going on.

We also recommend double-checking your app is up-to-date, just to make sure everything is working correctly.

We'll be here.

I am having this exact same issue. I am a free user, and I cannot "add a song to this playlist" that my (premium family) friend has invited me to.

Update: I am now a collaborator and can add songs, it takes 10-15 mins for the changes to process.
