Hey there,
Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
We can confirm that at the moment it's not possible to import OPML files into the app. Nevertheless, we'd like you to know another user had a similar request, so they posted this idea about it. We’d suggest adding your vote to it and subscribing to it to get notified as soon as we have any updates to share.
Hope this clears things up. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.
Hi, if anyone is looking to import OPML files, I made a webpage that can do it and just got approved by Spotify, the tool is at podimporter.com.
Seems like many other podcast apps are supportive of migrating to them but Spotify wants to make it difficult. Let's get support for this.
Pod Importer imported my subscriptions, but all shows appear unplayed. Is the only solution to mark played shows manually? Will take hours.
Yes unfortunately I'm not aware of a way technically to make Pod Importer bring in the data on whether the shows were played.
Yeah. Google podcast is stopping in April 2023. I have youtube music / spotify as an option to import the subscriptions. Please plan to have support by then
The suggestion has been outstanding for nearly 6 years and Spotify you have not moved on this. Honestly an easy way to support people in a transition away from deprecated apps. Instead you might find many of us using a different podcast service. Please support this I am not going to do this manually.
Please return to this thread. Google podcasts is going away and a lot more traffic on this question
I will second the endorsement of pod importer! It does a great job and it's very simple. No malware involved. One drawback: It will transfer subscriptions but not playlists you've made on Google Podcasts.
4/5.
Easy to use and did the job smoothly.
But as someone in Tech, I would recommend adding ability to remove app access to make it a trustworthy software.
PS: Once you use this app to import, I personally recommend following this - https://support.spotify.com/us/article/spotify-on-other-apps/
Unfortunately, the opml file provided by Google Podcasts does not include a list of the episodes you have listened to. It is a subscription list only. The file can be opened with notepad or any text editor to verify.
Works great. Thanks. Too bad Spotify podcast app is not better.
Thank you. Your webpage worked great, and fast. Just used it to transfer my podcasts from Google podcasts to Spotify
Podimporter works by trying to match podcast names to existing podcasts on Spotify. Unlike Google Podcasts, Spotify does not support adding RSS feeds (e.g. https://podcast.voice.api.bbci.co.uk/rss/audio/p002vsmz?api_key=Wbek5zSqxz0Hk1blo5IBqbd9SCWIfNbT for BBC World News or https://feeds.yle.fi/areena/v1/series/1-1440981.rss for Finnish state news). Thus migrating from Google Podcasts to Spotify isn't possible.
Thank you for creating a tool to make this action so simple it took me less than a minute to upload my podcasts!
Easy. Go to https://www.spotify.com/account/apps/ and remove!
