How do I remove specific genres from populMade For You and Daily Mix lists?

How do I remove specific genres from populMade For You and Daily Mix lists?

I use Spotify to help get my kids to sleep with bedtime music and other softer sounds. Is there any way I can keep these genres of music from populating in my Daily Mix playlists or in my Made For You playlists? It's annoying to be listening to a Rock song in a Made For You playlist and then the next song is (for example) "Music To Fall Asleep To." So is there any way to fix this?

Hi @monkebusiness!

For every playlist on Spotify, there is an option in the context menu labeled "Exclude from your Taste Profile." If you put all the songs you play for your children into a playlist, you can select this option, and songs within the playlist will not affect recommended songs or autogenerated playlists.

You can learn more about your Taste Profile here.

I am having the same problem. The amount of ASMR in my Release Radar is ruining my experience. I initially didn’t exclude this playlist from my taste profile, but went back and did it over a week ago and I’m still getting white noise/ASMR pushed on me. Is there anything else I can do to remove it from my taste profile?

Hey @Meghanwalsh,

Thanks for reaching out.

The "Exclude from your taste profile" feature affects past, present and future plays of the selected playlist, however, any plays of the same tracks outside of the playlist will still affect your taste profile.

With this in mind, we'd recommend playing this type of content only within the playlist. After a while, your personalized playlists will start to reflect the changes in your listening habits and should give you more of the music you actually like.

We hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.

This is a good feature, but because it only applies to playlists, it's not helpful for me. The ASMR stuff my kids want to listen to is all on albums. A simple solution would be to add this "Exclude From Taste Profile" option to albums as well as playlists. Seems like a fairly simple coding fix, and something that would greatly benefit those of us who have the need to listen to ASMR stuff that's compiled on albums, as opposed to playlists.

If you offer company-curated content, then you need to offer the ability for the consumer of that content to reject the curated content. It's kinda that simple -- especially for what we're paying.

Hey there @monkebusiness,

Thanks for posting in this thread!

We always take new suggestions and feedback into consideration to improve the app. You may also find this idea about being able to exclude albums from Your Taste Profile interesting, so feel free to check it out, if you haven't already. You can give it a thumbs up, should it be similar to what you're looking for.

We're just a post away if anything else appears. Cheers!

My Question or Issue

I've been listening the playlist "White Noise 10 hours" several nights trying to sleep. At the beginning, I clicked on "Omit from your music taste profile", but I've started to listen that playlist in my daily mix 1. Today, also in daily mix 2.

How can I quit all**bleep** from my daily mixes?
