My taste match percentages in my blends recently dropped significantly

Solved!

My taste match percentages in my blends recently dropped significantly

The largest change was a drop from 94% to 3%. None of the people i'm in a blend with significantly changed our listening patterns but blends with only one other person do not seem affected.

Hey folks,

Thanks for the replies.

Just to confirm, do you notice this only with a specific Blend or with all Blends in general (if you have more than one)? Have you tried leaving the Blend and creating it again to see if that would cause it the percentages to update?

If possible, try logging in on another mobile device to see if the issue persists there.

Let us know how it goes!

Hey @hello_wrld26,

Thanks for your reply.

We'd like to report this to our tech team, so please let us know the model, OS version, and Spotify version of your device and give us a few examples of the difference in the taste match percentages with your friends (in a group vs 1:1).

Hello!

It sounds like you’re experiencing a significant drop in your Spotify Blend percentage, from 94% to 3%, despite no major changes in listening patterns. This could be due to the algorithm recalibrating based on recent listening data or updates to Spotify’s system. Blends with multiple people might be more sensitive to small changes in listening habits compared to one-on-one blends.

Have you noticed any recent updates or changes in your Spotify app?

No, it doesn't seem like my app has been updated recently. I just updated it again last night but it still doesn't seem to have had any effect.

Hi,

Thanks! I have an iPhone 15 running on iOS 17.5.1 and Spotify is on version 8.9.50.

My taste match percentages in groups have all gone down from 70-95% to 3-5% (i.e. 94% to 3%, 87% to 4%, 68% to 5%), while my 1:1 percentages have all only gone down 2-6% (i.e. 86% to 81%, which I assume is normal due to changes in listening patterns). However, the 1:1 blends are not with the same people as those in the groups.

Hey @hello_wrld26,

Thanks for the additional info.

This has been forwarded, we'll let you know once we have an update.

Take care,

Thanks for your help! They are back to normal now.

As an avid Spotify user, I often check the taste match scores on Blend playlists to see what my close friends have been up to music-wise, and I noticed an hour ago that the scores have dropped significantly for most, if not all, of my Blends.

For example:
92% --> 84%
87% --> 74%
93% --> 86%
88% --> 77%
88% --> 62%

I'm not sure if there was a sudden change in algorithm, and perhaps the current scores are a more accurate reflection of how our tastes align, but I would really like to know if this is an issue that can possibly be fixed! I did note that there hasn't been any changes in the number of songs we both listened to on the playlists, just the scores.

Same for me! All my blends dropped significantly and it happened today

Same here i visit a exblend where i havent her as friend but still can check it dropped like  87 to **bleep** % i am in shock

this also just happened to a friend of mine

Been facing the same problem

Same thing happened to meee, please fix ittt

Maybe most of us are facing thiss,i was here to ask the same thing too i hope they fix it sooner

Hi this issues has happened again (see above comments). What was the issue before that caused this?

Still not fixed

Hello! My original post seems to have been moved as a reply to this different post with a solution? While I’m not sure how that happened, I would appreciate it if you could look into this issue again as not only myself, but also a few other users have recently experienced the very same problem! The solution posted unfortunately does not answer our collective concerns.

My Question or Issue

I have 3 blends done with one other person each. I recently checked the percentage of the compatibility of the 3 of them (August, 6th for two of them, maybe August, 11th for the third one).
In 8 days, the compatibility dropped from 80% to 58%, from 63% to 25%.
In maybe 3 days, the more recent playlist compatibility has dropped from 81% to 61%.
This makes no sense, as I was almost exclusively listening to 2 of those playlists, especially the 81/61 that was on repeat all day since we created it, for both the other person and me - so, if the number was to change, it should have increased, not decreased of 20%.
I have never seen the numbers change this drastically, even less when decreasing.
Was there a change in how the compatibility is computed? I truly believe there is a problem there.

Thank you for your work

I agree it didnt had any effect
