The new queue ui sucks and is the opposite of user friendly - user repellent! Not at all easy to use and feels like spotify is trying so hard to be Apple Music queue when literally everyone ever knows that the Apple Music queue system literally sucks the worst ever and is pretty much unusable with this whole slide to delete thing. Spotify people need to remember it’s okay to be your own app and that some things are fine as they are, this includes the queue system they had before especially.
Sick to death of all these updates no one likes, wants, or asked for. The old queue feature was perfect and really if it’s not broke it doesn’t need fixing. Super upsetting to see spotify ignoring its customer base and putting in features which suck. Just spend 1 minute scrolling through X and come across hundreds of people who hate this new UI update. If we wanted an awful queuing mechanism we’d head to apple music. Thanks all.
Hello @devious2!
Thanks for coming to the Community and bringing this valuable feedback.
I'd recommend checking out this article for more info on how to post your idea in the Community Ideas Exchange. That way other users and Community Moderators will be able to vote and comment on it.
Have a nice day 🙂
If you didn't like it doesn't mean doesn't work or isn't functional. Old queue was, that, old. The new one comes with album arts that make recognizing what's next easier. Also all of the previous actions are still present and queue doesn't take you to a different screen, now it shows up in a sliding menu which is easier to navigate.
They removed features, its worse, on a simple to understand practical level.
Please vote on this link so we can tell spotify that we want the old queue back!
We can't remove multiple songs at once which sucks. "Clear" button only clears the queue but not unwanted songs. To add songs to the queue or remove them it takes extra steps, if I want to add a song from the "next up" i can't swipe up to add it to the queue, i have to slide to the right, then now i have two copies of that same song, one in the queue and one in the "next up" so now i have to delete the one from the "next up". Too much work, less efficient.
Not all actions are still present. How you can no longer press and hold & select multiple songs to remove from queue. It looks worse and is less functional.
I use Spotify on my Samsung s20 FE and a few days ago I saw Spotify updated the queue in the least helpful way possible:
The first one isn't terrible, it's more of an inconvenience especially if I'm jumping between playlists and intend to keep my queue only to realize a few of the songs I thought were in my queue actually weren't. But the second part is extremely annoying. I have some pretty large playlists, sometimes there's quite a few songs I want to skip but who wants to swipe to delete each one (I'm sure spotify agrees, which is why it had the check mark option in the first place).
I will say the album art in the queue is a nice addition, but at what cost?
No, they're not all still present. You can't mass edit the queue anymore, you have to do it one song at a time which is very tedious, plus swiping is more annoying than tick boxes. They also removed the 3 dots on the right on the song. It sucks. I don't need album art to know what's coming, that's what the song title and artist name are for.
Yes, please bring the old queue! Or allow us to opt out of the new queue.
I'm a premium user, but may cancel my subscription if the new queue is permanent. The collapsing queue pop up, not being able to delete multiple songs anymore, and having to click and swipe to remove individual songs makes it far too frustrating to use on my Android phone.
half the time I can swipe **bleep** to my queue and half the time I can't. please make it one or the other this half and**bleep** sucks
It is not easier to navigate, old doesn't mean bad, and nobody needs the cover arts in the queue since they are already being displayed in the playlist. Also who looks at the cover art to know what song it is, rather than reading the title and artist? Not to forget you completely ignore the problem of having to waste much more time to delete and rearrange the queue now that it's become impossible to mark multiple songs at once, meaning it became less function. There is really no need to defend updates nobody wanted on such an immature level. Like really, 'the old thing is bad because it's old'? That's just not a smart or even remotely valid reason to mess up a **bleep** music app and make it objectively worse.
Honestly, the majority of updates for UI done by large companies is just for change/to look new or like they're actually doing something useful with all the money the bilk us into paying for these terrible services. They can't seem to get anything right. And even if they do, they'll just change it in some random update your not prepared for & not give you the ability to revert it.
These communities are largely for show. So we are just yelling at clouds. They'll probably just add this to the list of complaints they "fixed" as they completely ignore it and we wait another year or 3 for them to fix something so basic like queue for a music player app.
While I kind of like the new look of the Queue UI, it is really lacking from a usability perspective for at least two reasons:
It is extremely difficult to rearrange songs in the queue. It feels like the "move" button is only 1 pixel, and it's super sensitive. Even when I think I pressed and held on the "move" button, the selected row still doesn't move vertically (to move it up or down in the queue), but horizontally (for deletion). I had zero issues with rearranging the queue in the old UI.
It would be great to get back the option to remove multiple songs from the queue in a single batch, e.g., remove all selected songs.
