Release Radar - only 30 tracks max

Hi,
I used to have between 100-200 tracks every friday on release radar, this week I only got 30.

It seems it's the 'default' number when you don't follow lots of artists (which is not my case, I follow almost 2000 artists)

How can I get back to getting all the new releases ?

My theory is that they don't want us following artists via release radar because that stops us from interacting with their algorithms (which coincidentally will contain "featured" artists). Also, the only people who are complaining about this are likely power users who account for far more than average traffic and storage... Meaning Spotify is probably happy to get rid of us, even though we are the ones who have been paying subscriptions for years and years.

To start investigating this issue, would you mind confirming if you've tried a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article? This is often an overlooked step, but it can be helpful in getting rid of any corrupted files that might be causing issues. 
 

If the issue persists, and in case you haven't sent it yet; let us know the following info:

- Your device info (make/model) and OS version

- Exact Spotify version

Also, and if possible; could any of you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

I followed the steps in the article and did a clean reinstall of the app with no luck but the web player shows more tracks than the app, also the stories of the playlist shows multiple tracks that are missing .

My device is iPhone 11

ios 17.5

Spotify PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP. Playlist curators of indie music need ALL the new releases of artists we FOLLOW and we DO NOT want stuff added in. I curate niche indie christian music- why is Katy Perry in my release radar!? Why is my Release Radar playlist only 90 minutes long, it is usually 12 HOURS and that's what I want!!

I just got this new version of the desktop app from MS Store: Spotify for Windows (64 bit) 1.2.43.420.gc7b23f70.

My Windows version:

Windows 10 Pro 22H2 Build 19045.4717

But still only have 30 tracks in the current Release Radar playlist from 3 days ago:

The web player still shows 200 tracks and also my user ID instead of my username. My browser is MS Edge version 127.0.2651.98.

I'm still not getting 200 artists on my phone and desktop but I am on the web player.

It appears now that on mobile, through a web browser,You can’t even access your own library of playlists that you yourself created. I tried the copy-paste method  on a desktop browser outlined earlier. 1) the playlist didn’t show up in the phone app for me to listen to after I had created it through the browser and 2) you can’t access any playlist you created through the browser. It forces you to the app.

Update: the playlist did eventually show up in the iPhone app but I had to search for it. It doesn’t show in Recents or Recently Added.

Will be cancelling ASAP if this isn't fixed. 6-9 hours a week down to 30 songs. Feature completely ruined.

Thanks for all the replies. We've done some investigating on our end and can confirm that Release Radar is supposed to be 30 tracks and that is its usual intended length. If you have or had more songs, we can conclude that this has probably been some sort of intermittent temporary behavior or the list has been influenced by some external factors. We understand that you may prefer a longer Release Radar, so we'll definitely take note of the feedback you've given us in this thread and send it over to the right people.

Luckily I've been preparing for this since you guys rolled out the forced TikTok feed, and am completely ready to switch to another service. Thanks for the 8 years of good music and terrible business decisions!

Joan , it appears that you do not know how the software that you yourself represent actually works. 30 tracks is the default if you don’t follow artists. The more artists you follow, the more tracks will appear in your release radar, logically. It tops out at 200 tracks which is approximately 12 hours worth of music. Surely as a company that purports to bring music to the masses, you would want your power users , who are financially supporting your company to curate that music as they see fit. If you are testing some new “feature” then just come out and say so, don’t gaslight this community. If this is the direction this company is going, ditching its loyal power customers, then so be it, but the backlash from your user base will be vocal and strong. Your software has operated this way for as long as I can remember. It is your engineers who have changed something at the behest of I don’t know what, but you should recognise that this would be a hugely unpopular move on your part.

This is not how code / software works.. it isn't magically influenced by outside factors. It wasn't temporary, as it has functioned this way for many years - the list is also still at 200 songs in the web browser, as your single dev apparently can't figure out how to remove it from there too.

Someone made the choice to lower the limit in the application, and whatever your manager told you to say here doesn't change that fact.

What I can’t understand Joan, is why would your company actively act against its own interests and the interests of the artists on it’s platform and actually greatly hinder the discoverability of the very music you aim to distribute?

This is just completely untrue Joan. I can’t tell if this is some joke or not. My release radar has had 12 hours of music, 200 tracks for YEARS. Give us back what we’re asking for. This makes absolutely no sense at all. You’re going to be losing business if you continue to keep it this way. “Intermittent temporary behavior” doesn’t last for as long as I’ve had Spotify since 2012!!! Clearly you don’t know what you’re talking about and how about you get us someone who does, or let the higher ups know what we want fixed (you’re clearly not the person in charge)

No it's been more than 30 songs for a few years now. And my Release Radar on desktop is currently sitting at close to 200 songs, while the Release Radar on the phone app has exactly 30 songs.

In saying that, the close to 200 songs on desktop still appear in the preview on the app - they're just not in the actual playlist itself.
