Removing artists from Spotify because of butthurt

Removing artists from Spotify because of butthurt

So yeah, I'm hoping it's not true, but I just read some news about a certain band being removed from Spotify because someone got offended. Please let this not be true. I had never heard of the band, nor had i ever seen their lyrics. But from their name, Infant Annihilator,  I assumed they are a death metal band. Not my cup of tea, but not everything needs to be. Some death metal bands tend not to talk about babies unless they are dead babies.

Again, It's the internet so it's not the most reliable source. But the site I read it on tends to be on the reliable side. At least they have no reason to make this up. So I need to ask this: Are you, Spotify, seriously removing bands because some people have a problem with them? And if so, where do you draw the line? I bet there are tons more people butthurt about say Deicide or Cannibal corpse. Yes I took the most obvious candidates.

So who decides who gets to be offended? I don't get offended about stuff that does not concern me, but I do understand that it is the norm these days. I don't accept it, but I understand that even the most miniscule minorities get their say now.

You think you should be the ones to decide what people get to listen? I get that it's your service, but you put Infant annihilator on in the first place so I figure you were okay with it. Do people who are professional butthurts get to decide what people listen to? Are they really such a revenue that you can't ignore them?

Please just let people choose for themselves.

I agree and as an avid cannibal corpse fan I am fuming at the fact that a minority being offended by this is causing these bands or their albums to be removed. Im already fed up with it.

This is so awful.

I'm not a the biggest fan of cannibal corpse ..but from time to time I need my metal fix. And it is awful that they're restricting access to the music we want.

Is spotify going to listen to a third party or its customers?
