My Question or Issue
So I was wondering what exactly the point of this setting is? It doesn't really seem to do anything and it's a bit frustrating getting ads that are the opposite of what you like, or consume.
Like for example I don't live anywhere near a McDonald's, I don't even go there when I'm out of town. So why would I get ads for that chain, if I supposedly am supposed to be getting tailored ads?

Hey @Isaacs1997,
Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.
We can confirm you're in the right place since that's the option we have to handle the tailored ads. As mentioned in the description of the Tailored ads option, keep in mind that even if you receive ads based on your Spotify information and your real-time usage of the app, not all of them might be relevant for you.
This doesn't mean that your feedback isn't heard or that this request can't be fulfilled by some other means in the future. On the contrary, this is being monitored, and we invite everyone to share their opinion in a constructive manner. We will then ensure that it is passed onto the relevant teams.
Hope this clears things up. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.
Hello!
I completely understand your frustration regarding ads that are not relevant to you. The configuration of personalized ads on Spotify aims to provide a more tailored experience based on your music interests and preferences. However, the system doesn't always accurately identify all your preferences, resulting in ads that may seem irrelevant.
It's important to note that the customization of ads is an ongoing process that utilizes algorithms to analyze your listening data and deliver more relevant ads over time. However, it may take some time for the system to understand your preferences more accurately.
Regarding the McDonald's ads, Spotify may use other data, such as your location, to target ads based on the proximity of certain commercial establishments. However, I understand that in your specific case, this may seem inappropriate.
If you wish to further personalize your experience and reduce the occurrence of irrelevant ads, I suggest checking the privacy and ad preference settings in your Spotify account. There, you can adjust your preferences and interests to help the system deliver ads that are more aligned with your music preferences.
I hope this information is helpful! If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, I'm here to help.
I'm not sure if I'm in the wrong privacy settings area, but I'm only seeing two slide options, and then 3 things under download your data that you can check mark in that part of my account. Both the ads and data have been switched to being allowed the whole time I've had Spotify, so I don't think what your suggesting is working on my end maybe?
But yeah, idk why they would use proximity for me on some of these ads, because I live three or so towns over from the nearest one that has any fast food options besides subway or gas station chains like Chester's Chicken and godfather's pizza. (Small town of under 3000 people).
So I'm really not sure how to do the whole adjusting my preferences and interests to help the system deliver ads, since I'm not seeing anything other than those two options and the proximity thing should know those ads aren't relevant

I am on a premium subscription but the two attachments above showing where to toggle OFF the ads does not work. When I toggle to turn off it just comes back on. How on earth does someone turn this off so as not to receive all the rubbish they do not want ?
Hi there @fifiandmoosemusic,
Thanks for the reply. Toggling this setting off will not disable ads, they will just be less specific to you. If the setting doesn't change, try using an incognito window, different devices and different networks.
Hope this helps.
