My Question or Issue

Ok so I have this song All eyez on me [Gangsta Remix] and it keeps changing the audio. Since I downloaded this song like 6 months ago it's changed 3 times. Each time it'll sound like a completely different person singing, like it was re-recorded.

I feel insane because it's the exact same song, it's not like I added another one with the same title, but I've checked with other people and they also noticed a difference. This happened again a few days ago and the background music sounds completely different too.

How is this even possible? If they want to record a different version shouldn't they just add another separate one? I don't think people should be able to change a song that's already out there like just release a different version. It's annoying because I really liked the original too.

Hi there @esauerbo,

Thanks for reaching out. This is quite a peculiar issue. We haven't been able to find anything like this, so would it be possible for you to provide some sort of recording of two different versions of this song listed under the same name? If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos. With that, we'd be able to investigate. In the meantime, please follow the steps provided here to report any content issues you spot to us.

Keep us posted.

I'm not sure if I have a way of proving that the original song changed, I guess I'd have to wait and see if it changes again, but I found a different version of the song that sounds how it originally sounded.

^ I added this version to my library on Sept 28. Currently it sounds different than it did when I first downloaded it (read: much worse)

^ I just found this, but it's what the first one sounded like when I first downloaded it.

And there's also this one https://open.spotify.com/track/2TyBkLmk4021HiSQQTCniM?si=420f4ecfcb1e434e which is what the original song got changed to at an intermediate point sometime in January.

There's a ton of versions of this song but I am very certain that I've been listening to the same "copy" this whole time and the audio is changing; I haven't been accidentally listening to different versions, because it's always coming from my liked songs. Can artists make changes to songs that have been released already? Idk how playback works but is it possible it's retrieving the wrong song when it's played?

Hey @esauerbo,

Thanks for all additional info!

We've looked into this with our teams and done some investigation, and while some changes can occur over time, we can confirm that the tracks with the same amount of listens are correctly linked, as well as the new version.

Hope this clear things up. We're just a post away if you need anything else.

Thanks for getting back to me. That doesn't really explain the issue at all though.

Im having this same issue! Grr

I noticed the same thing! So frustrating

Gangsta track darkboy used to be 50cent and 2pac now its different guys signing. Theres ur example. Please fix it. Pac sounds waaay better.

Ok now it is literally a COMPLETELY different song. Please someone look into this

Thanks for responding, @esauerbo.

It's worth mentioning that as it's the artists that are uploading their music to Spotify through a variety of services, they're the ones that are responsible for the versions uploaded, any changes that are made, deletions or any other actions.

If you feel like there's an issue with the content then you can report it and for more info you can check out this article.

The Community's here should you have any other questions 🙂

There is an issue with the content, that's what this whole post is about. I don't mind if artists upload different versions of their songs, my issue is a song I already have saved now sounds entirely different. (And this has happened multiple times) Like there is literally a different person singing and it just isn't the same song. Are you saying it's normal for songs I have saved to completely change day to day? What's the point of saving them then?
