Track Relinking

Track Relinking

Incorrect track linking is undermining the purpose of remastered reissues for artists. Often, the new tracks have separate playcounts, which makes the remasters harder to discover as listeners continue playing the older versions. This issue not only clutters the artist’s page but also jeopardizes music preservation.

An example of incorrect track linking can be seen in this album -> this album.

Most tracks of this album should be linked to the tracks of this album -> this album.

Instead they are identified as separate tracks and therefore they display separate playcounts.

I’ve reached out to Spotify Support multiple times to request proper relinking of tracks for some artists. They assured me that my requests would be prioritized, but nothing has changed so far.

Is there any way to resolve track linking issues? Can I fix it myself if I’m not the artist? Over the years I have found and kept note of many tracks that have this problem.

Hey @vitaazerokelvin,

Thanks for noticing this and for reaching out!

If you've already reported these inconsistencies backstage, they will definitely get looked into 🙂 There isn't really much we can do to speed up the review process unfortunately, but I'd keep my hopes up for this one!

We're here for you if there's anything else in the meantime. Happy holidays!

Hey @vasil,

I've been writing to Spotify Support about this for almost a year, but nothing has changed. I reached out yesterday for the third time and again I've been reassured the issue will be taken care of. However, given the circumstances, it's fair to say correct track-linking isn't at the top of Spotify priorities and I have little hope this will be seriously looked into.
