Unable to see Spotify Discover playlists

Unable to see Spotify Discover playlists

Plan: Free

Country: USA

Device

M1 Macbook Pro (using web player), iPhone 15

Operating System

MacOS Sequoia, iOS 18

I cannot see the previous Spotify playlists of Discover Weekly or Release Radar. I was a premium subscriber and recently went to the free plan and when that happened I lost access to those playlists. All I see on iOS are where they're supposed to be and I don't see much of anything on the web player except on the sidebar.

Hi there @sdkn74,

Thanks for reaching out.

This is quite odd. Since you see the same thing across all devices, most likely the playlists somehow became corrupted within the account itself. We recommend creating a new account and testing if these playlists work as expected there. If they do, you can transfer your music to that new account and use it instead. Our support team can also help you further with that.

Let us know how it goes.

I guess the question becomes since this account is almost 10 years old a bunch of my tastes were curated into those Discover playlists how can I ensure that the new account gets the same music choices on those playlists? I obviously don't need the algorithm but I assume its based on things I've played recently plus what I liked in the past and some other unknown metrics. By moving to a new account am I going to have to go through a bunch of music I don't like on those playlists again and if so for how long?

Thanks for the response @sdkn74,

While your listening history can't be transferred to another account, your Library can be moved there so that you keep your playlists, liked songs etc.

When it comes to the personalized playlists that are made for you, they're built based on a few factors, such as your listening habits/history - similar bands or music and what other artist's fans like, interface behavior - songs that you skip or repeat and what you listen to from an artist's page, and also artists that you follow.

For new Spotify accounts, it may take several weeks for Spotify to get to know your tastes again, but the more you use the new account and listen to the tunes and artists that you like, the better recommendations should you see in the made for you playlists.

With this said, it would maybe be better for you to create the new account and reach out to Customer Support right away so that they can transfer your music there.

Hope this helps clear things up and don't hesitate to let us know if you've got any other questions 🙂
