Why can't this be combined into one release?

Why can't this be combined into one release?

It pisses me off like **bleep** that the discographies of almost all artists are full of copies of the same albums, sometimes there are 2, 3 or more versions of them... (original release, deluxe edition, remastered edition, anniversary edition, bonus tracks edition, etc.) What is the point of all these releases? well, I understand the meaning of such releases on discs and vinyl, it gives you opportunity to buy a cheaper or more expensive edition, but what's the point of doing the make such releases on streaming services? isn't it more convenient to combine original release and all the extras in one release?

p.s. I don't know English very well, but I hope you understand what I mean

Hi there,

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

I get what you mean, but that's just how the artist or their label uploaded them on Spotify. The Metallica albums in particular have been remastered a lot over the years (with Ride the Lightning receiving a remaster approximately every 3-5 years since its release back in 1984) and every remaster has its own subtle differences, I guess.

Still, you feedback on this is important, thanks for sharing it here - we appreciate it.

Cheers 🙂
