Ubuntu desktop current playing not syncing with phone

My Question or Issue

I just installed version:

Spotify version 1.2.8.923.g4f94bf0d

I've used the snap version for a long time, but I installed this as it had the UI change. I usually listen from my phone, but control the songs from my desktop. But I can no longer see the device (my phone) from the desktop application, even when already playing music. However, my desktop discord is able to pick up that I'm listening to spotify, but NOT my desktop spotify. If I try to play a song on desktop spotify when already playing a song from my phone, the music starts on the desktop application but doesn't stop on the phone. 

If I restart the desktop application it will pick up that my phone is playing for maybe 30 secs before the green bottom bar (indicating I'm playing on a different device) disappears.

And no my phones doesn't appear in other devices.
