Accidentally downloaded local file playlist

Hello,

Not long ago as I was playing around with Spotify, I noticed the "download" button and thought maybe this meant that you could download files. However, the playlist happened to comprise of only local files. Within the next moment, all of those (local) files greyed out and it said "downloading playlist." I tried cancelling it several times but it didn't stop. After I managed to stop the dowloading session, all of those files in the playlist (all local) greyed out and I wasn't able to play them. I managed to get them back though selecting another folder through Preferences, but then the next day a LOT of my other local files disappeared. I tried adding more folders thorugh Preferences but none of the files reappeared. However, not all of my local files have disappeared--most of the ones that disappeared are my favorite ones =( How can I get them back?
