Custom EQ causes the volume to drop drastically

I'm using spotify on a macbook pro running macOS Monterey 12.5 running Spotify for macOS (Intel) 1.2.4.912.g949d5fd0. When selecting a custom EQ the volume drops drastically compared to no EQ. This is not what I have previously experienced and led me to believe this is an issue/bug. (Premium)

I personally don't use the in-app EQ, but I tried it just now and can confirm that switching to one of the presets does have an effect on the overall volume. However, I believe this is normal and to be expected, since when you boost a certain frequency by a few dB, the volume on the preamp should be reduced, otherwise clipping would occur.

My guess is that the app automatically counterbalances the boosts from the presets by reducing the overall volume, thus preventing potential clipping from occurring. The larger the boost is, the bigger the impact on the overall volume.
