I've been using Spotify for a while now on my Mac (10.10.3) but recently the desktop player crashed and I was unable to open it. Unfortunately I do not have the exact error message that I received when it was unable to open. I've tried to do a clean reinstall several times and when I try to download the installer, my computer downloads the .zip file and then converts it to the "Install Spotify" file but when I try to open it, it says "An error occurred while trying to download Spotify" and then gives me the option to quit or download from spotify.com. When I click download from spotify.com, it links me back to the original download page and the entire process starts over.
I've tried restarting my computer after uninstalling Spotify but that hasn't changed anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, so I think I found a possible, temporary solution.
While searching a bit in the forums I spotted this thread:
Here the mod recommends to download the (possibly outdated) DMG file.
The full installation, not just the installer as in the zip files.
http://download.spotify.com/Spotify-0.8.5.dmg
This worked for me.
AutoUpdate worked fine, currently using, the probably latest version, 1.0.4.90.g0b6df40b
Hi,
I am a new user and i have the same problem!!!
This problem apparently also occurs on Macs that with OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) like mine. It seems to be a general downloading issue for Mac users.
I'm having the same exact problem. I did not have this problem using the previous OS. Spotify hasn't addressed this yet?
Same issue here...
It seems as if the downloader (the file in the first zip) can't communicate or fetch the real file..
MD5 (SpotifyInstaller.zip) = c70395e5105ad6935bac82ba1c6ce991

Just doesn't want to install. Have done all the delete caches, application support things suggested.
it worked for me, but the version is indeed outdated. spotify should be more careful and fix this.
thank you for your help!
