Has anyone else noticed the new Spotify Desktop update for Mac OSX is really unstable?

Since updating to the new version of Spotify (the one with the lyrics, and without all of my apps!), I've found that Spotify keeps crashing, and getting stuck in loops trying to load artists' pages (using >40% of the CPU to do so!).

Notifications won't open when you click on them, you just get the spinning dots of doom.

Three or four 'Spotify helpers' account for most of the CPU activity.

I am running Mavericks, and had no problems with previous Spotify incarnations. Are the folks at Spotify aware of the problem? I can't seem to see any mention of it on the messageboards. It's got so bad I've given up listening, and I pay for Premium, so I'm hoping they sort out an update fix soon.

I'd be keen to hear if anyone else has had this problem.
