High memory usage over time, on Mac

High memory usage over time, on Mac

Since some versions ago, one of the Spotify Helpers sometimes increases its memory to high values (like 1,8GB or more). That only happens over the time, it's suddenly, I don't expect that mainly because I'm only listening to music. Spotify works as well and I didn't detect something strange when one of this Helpers were with a high memory usage.

That image shows one of the Helpers with a high memory usage.

Another (more recently) image with Spotify Helper EH with high memory usage. I was observing how and how much time need to reach that memory usage: increases slowly, this time needed about 2 hours to reach this size.

I'm using Mac OS 10.10 (Yosemite beta) but that problem happend in 10.9 too.

My Spotify version (in general, the latest): 0.9.11.27.g2b1a638c

Are you doing anything else in the client? Spotify Helper processes are used to display pages like artists pages and browse etc in the app (which is why there are 12 of them).

No, I don't, I only listen to music.

I've just had issues with iTunes playback (dropouts). I looked at my system resources with Activity Monitor, and found that all of my 32GB was in use, and the top hitter was Spotify at 7GB! Thing is, I had only played one or two tracks since booting. That's quite a memory leak!

Even in 2025, the app is taking 1.16 GB of RAM in macOS Sequoia 15.3. It's huge!
