Mac desktop client now closes on its own.

Mac desktop client now closes on its own.

This is on th shop (older) MacBook.

Mac 10.6.8  Intel 2ghz

I came into work today as normal.  The Spotify client login window was open. Cleared out co-workers credentials and plugged mine in, (non-premium). It appeared to do the normal looking start up of the client. Then about 3-4 seconds into it, It just closes.

I tried this couple of times with the same results. I restarted the computer and the same thing happened.  I came to the Spotify website for help. While looking at the reunstall for MAC, the steps did not match this system. There was no com.spotify.client in the /Library/Caches and nothing in the Application Support folder.  Only indication of the client app is in the Applications folder of 109.3 MB on disk.   I have downloaded and ran the installer before and after trashing that which is the applications folder and none of those steps have resolved it.  I have ran a search for anything pertaining to "spotifiy" on the entire drive and only the installer and application shows up.

I asked the co-worker who was using it the night before if it ws working or if anything odd happened and it was working fine and closed fine the night before.

Works fine on my windows 8.1 laptop and webclient.  I have logged out of the PC and the MAC still closes.

I do believe that I have fixed it.

The folders in the ~/Library/Cache and ~/Library/Application Support were not showing up in the finder, as mentioned above.  It's been some time since I used a MAC and after a break, I fired up the terminal and locted those folders and one named com.spotify.danstaller.

I manually removed every trace of those through the teminal. I then trashed the applicaton from the Applications folder and emptied the trash. Rebooted the computer and downloaded a fresh copy of the installer. It ran fine, installed fine. I was able to log in and I am now listening to some tunes on that very mac as I type this.

Have a nice day and I hope that it stays fixed.
