Mac won't download music I locally have on my Windows computer

Solved!

Mac won't download music I locally have on my Windows computer

I have a playlist saved on my Windows called Downloads, this playlist is just a way for me to dump locally saved songs so that I can press the download button from other devices to get those locally saved songs onto my phone.
I recently got a mac and thought I could do the same but it hasn't been able to download the music yet.

So far I've tried logging out from both accounts and logging back in, made sure to stay on the same network, and also made sure that the locally saved songs are all MP3's.

Not sure what else I'm supposed to do

Hi there @kianlakoo,

Thanks for reaching out!

In order for the local files to work, they'll need to be physically present on your Mac's storage, so try uploading them there as well - that should do the trick. More info on local files can be found in this article.

Cheers 🤘

Hi there @kianlakoo,

Thanks for your reply.

First, we'd like to mention that the feature allowing syncing of local files between devices is in the process of being deprecated, so it's expected to see some issues with it. We understand it works from your phone for now, but it's expected for the sync not to work in every device. That's why in this case, we recommend making sure you have the files stored on the device you want to access them from. You can check how to do it with the steps on the link sent in our previous reply.

We'll be here in case you have any questions.

So it wouldn't work the same way the phone would download local songs then?
I have an iPhone that is setup in the way I described and it's able to download the songs just fine.
