NONE WORK: Spotify Connect, AirPlay, Chromecast (but they do everywhere else)

NONE WORK: Spotify Connect, AirPlay, Chromecast (but they do everywhere else)

Macbook Pro 16" 2019

Operating System

macOS Sonoma (but existed Ventura)

My Question or Issue

I am using an Apple TV connected to my sound system to stream music. This works perfectly on all my devices (iPad, iPhone, other Macs) except my main MacBook Pro. AirPlay works in all other apps on the machine.

Spotify’s "connect to device" interface just says it didn't find any other devices. This feature has worked before and something must have gotten messed up (perhaps on one of my regular clean-ups where I disable background processes, startup objects, …). But I don't know what exactly.

Restarting, uninstall and reinstall, nothing has helped. Any of you guys know how I might fix this, without completely resetting my system?

I'm having the same issue. In my Galaxy S23 and in the web player, they properly show my connected devices in the "Connect" menu, but in my mac version spotify desktop, it doesn't show anything.

Hi there @Spielzwerg, @chaos8527,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you both please test if using a different network makes any difference? You can make a hotspot with a phone to test this. If possible, try logging in with different accounts too and see if it works then.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Joan

I'm having the same issue on M3 Pro MacBook Pro macOS Sonoma 14.4.1

I've created a new user and tested, this makes no difference. Also tried on alternate WiFi networks but again no success. I'm trying to connect Spotify to my Apple HomePod mini stereo pair. I have no AirPlay devices option in Spotify, I can see a Google Cast device but not any AirPlay devices. I can connect the MacBook Pro to my HomePod mini pair and by changing the default sound output option in Control Centre so I know my laptop has connection to the speakers it's just Spotify that can't see them

Hey @nquinby,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community!

Keep in mind that currently there's no native support for the HomePod, which might be causing some issues. Feel free to have a look and leave your vote on this idea, should it sound similar to what you're looking for.

There are some things you can try in this case, however, related to AirPlay. You can find more details on the Apple support page here.

Hope this clears things up!
