[OS X El Capitan] Spotify choosing to repeatedly crash and re-open every minute or so

I'm on El Capitan. I recently noticed a new Spotify look that appeared sometime between last night and this morning. I was anaware of any updates. (In case you're wondering Command+Q is my friend, so it was technically fully restarted). Anyways, after this update (which is pretty dang cool tbh) every minute +/- 15 seconds the app will crash, no matter what I'm doing on it (if it's "closed", minimized, playing music, or just browsing around), and then just re-appear. 

I may note I am using Premiere Pro simultaneously with only 8 GB of ram and an Intel i5 on a mid-2014 MBPro. I can see how this may be a problem... but is Spotify really that resource heavy?
