Playback hijacked by dormant device.

Playback hijacked by dormant device.

Hi. I have spotify running on three devices - two macs and one android. Obviously, I use one at a time, but I don't shut down the app on the mac at home when I'm at work.

What happens is that randomly when I'm playing music on my work mac, the music stops, and when I open the app I see that the mac at home started playing (also, it plays what it did when I stopped it, and when I switch back to play on my work computer I'm on a different playlist)

This also happens with the android app (it hijacks the playback, and playback gets hijacked from it)

This is a bit of a nuisance, as it really shouldn't happen. If I pressed "pause" on the app, it shouldn't start playing by itself unless I specifically tell it to.

Hi! Is someone using your Mac at home? Spotify automatically syncs what you play o your devices if they are connected on the same account. So, if you play on your Mac, it will sync with your android phone and other mac so the playlist being played in that mac will continue on other devices if you change the device you're using. It's a nice feature as it syncs songs that are added to queue. If someone uses your Mac at home, I recommend you to shut it down. Hope this helps 🙂

as I said in the original message, no, nobody's using the computer when I'm away, it seems to be a bug, when the app is idle it seems to hijack the playback in random, for no apparent reason.

Why not try shutting down the mac on your home? If you think this is bothering you, and reinstalling doesn't fix things, just reply and I will escalate your issue.

why? because it's a bug, and shouldn't act this way 🙂

I don't want to shut down the machine or the app, as I'm bound not to remember to do this. If the app is not playing anything, it should never start playing on its own, that's a simple enough expectation.

It's not the type of issue that would make me want to leave spotify, it's basically a silly nuisance, but it seems like a relatively simple bug with a simple fix - if paused don't start without a button pressed 🙂
