Playing song from 'Search in playlist' then only plays songs from that search

Playing song from 'Search in playlist' then only plays songs from that search

Spotify for macOS (Intel)
1.1.99.878.g1e4ccc6e
Device:
Macbook Pro late 2019

Operating System: macOS Monterey 12.6.1

After searching for a song via 'Search in playlist' the other songs that are returned from that search then become the entire 'Next from.' For example, on a Christmas playlist if I search 'Last Christmas', 5 versions of the song return, I hit play on the Wham version and then after it plays I get Last Christmas - Instrumental, Last Christmas - Piano, etc. Then if I want to get out of this I have to go back to the main playlist and hit play on a random song, I can't just use the big pause/play at the top of the playlist to start shuffle playing again.

Not sure if this is the intended behavior but it's a bad user experience from my perspective. Searching for a song doesn't mean I want to listen to every version of it.

Hey @leogould,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We can confirm this is expected behavior. If you're starting the playback from the filtered results, the app will play those results and the same happens whether using the searching general bar or the playlist searching bar.

In that sense, if you're listening to a specific playlist and want to search for a particular song there, you can add it to the queue so the playlist doesn't reset. And, to see the entire playlist again, you can just erase what you wrote in the search bar.

We really appreciate your feedback; we know you want to make the best out of your listening experience.

Hope this clears things up. If you have any questions or need a hand with anything else, we're always a post away.

Cheers!
