Podcasts auto-mark as played, then unmark themselves

Podcasts auto-mark as played, then unmark themselves

MBA M1/2020

Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon)

1.2.31.1205.g4d59ad7c

This behavior just started in the last few weeks.

If I pause/stop a podcast episode near the end of it's run-time, Spotify automatically marks the ep as played. Unfortunately, that "played" status is not being saved anywhere. If I navigate away and then come back to the podcast again, the episode will revert to in-progress state.

If I mark the ep as "played" manually using the right-click menu, this bug doesn't happen. Only when auto-marked.

I assume this isn't expected behavior. In my case it's annoying because I can't mark the ep as played manually until I've gotten rid of the auto-marking by navigating away.

Hey @clem_fandango,

Thanks for posting in the Community!

Does the same thing happen on multiple devices and with different podcasts or is it a specific device and podcast?

If you haven't already we recommend doing some troubleshooting steps such as clearing the corrupted cache within the app with the steps here and logging out > logging back in twice in a row. This sounds a bit odd, but helps re-sync your device and account.

If the issue persists, let us know what you've tried from your end so we can avoid repeating steps and we'll see what to suggest next.

Hope to hear from you soon 🙂
