Shared Songs Do Not Appear in Inbox

Shared Songs Do Not Appear in Inbox

Morning, yall. 🙂 Hoping someone here can help, as this is terribly frustrating. I tried searching for this issue alreadya nd couldn't find anything—possibly I missed the target keywords, so if anyone knows of a previous thread, I'd be grateful for a nudge in the right direction?

I have a core group of gamer friends who all send each other music related to characters/ideas/games. It's one of the best things about Spotify! However, starting from about December or so, ONE of them sends me music but it never shows up in my inbox. No notification, and no song. For a while, I was able to fake Spotify out by restarting it and then clicking on my friend's name—the whole list would reload and there was the new one! As of about a week ago, that stopped working, so he sends me songs and they just vanish.

We're both subscribers, and we both are at least connected to Facebook. So far, while the notifications have always been kinda iffy for everyone, he's the only one whose shared songs don't make it to me.

I have tried:

  1. Completely uninstalling Spotify and clean re-installing.
  2. Unfollowing him and re-following him.

This happens on every device—iOS and Mac desktop. He has no special characters in his name, nothing fancy about his username.

Thoughts on what else can be done to fix this? Thank you in advance for your time!

Hello there and welcome to the community,

As it seems to be, actually, a problem with sharing by message, one way could be the following :

If your friend has the songs to share in a playlist :

 - if his playlist is public : you can open it and subscribe to it from his profile.

 - if his playlist is secret : ask him to give you the spotify url of the playlist, you will paste it in the Spotify search box to open the playlist and subscribe to it.

Once you have subscribed to the playlist, order it by date and you will see, at the top, the last songs added when your friend will add new ones..

Thank you so much for the suggestion. I'll run this by my group and see if we can move to that for now, but in the meantime, I'll hope there is a solution out there somewhere.

I DID send a message direct to support, so when they reply, I'll be sure to follow up here. 🙂

You are welcome,

- Another way possible is to make the playlist "collaborative".

- Each member of your group has to subscribe to the playlist.

- Once everyone has subscribed, each subscriber can add songs and it will be seen by all the other members of your group.
