Spotify Slow on Mac OS 10.9.5

Spotify Slow on Mac OS 10.9.5

Hi there,

Spotify is incredibly slow on my Mac.

I have taken the following steps to rectify, but Spotify remains my slowest application:

-Reinstalled (3 times)

-Restart computer

-Install all updates

-Disable all local file sources

-Reduce cache to maximum of 1GB

Despite these attempts, Spotify is incredibly slow. It takes at least 2 minutes to load the 'Browse' page, and a further two minutes until it is smooth. I have also excluded my internet connection as the issue.

As a Premium User, it is unacceptable that this paid service is nearly unusable. I have run the application on Windows PC and it has been running perfectly.

I am using the following:

  Model Name: MacBook Pro

  Model Identifier: MacBookPro10,1

  Processor Name: Intel Core i7

  Processor Speed: 2.3 GHz

  Number of Processors: 1

  Total Number of Cores: 4

L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB

  L3 Cache: 6 MB

  Memory: 8 GB DDR3 1600MHz

  Storage: 250GB SSD

Software  OS X 10.9.5 (13F34)

An update seems to be the only logical solution. As continued use of the current application will force me to find another music streaming service and discontinue my subscription.

Kind Regards,

Joe

Hey,

I'm using Spotify 0.9.13 on my MacBook Pro (6,2) (i5...) and it's running perfectly smooth (besides it fires up the NVIDIA graphics...) on OSX 10.9.5

I think your problem might be the Adobe Flash Player. Are you using the latest version 15.0.0.152? Maybe it helps to reinstall it.

If this doesn't help you may need to clean the chaches folder in your user Library manually...

Greetings and good luck 😉

Hi,

Thanks for your reply!

I just updated Adobe Flash and I ran the cleaning software Onyx to clean my cache.

I have also manually cleaned the Spotify storage cache. But I've had no gain at all.

Any other solutions would be greatly appreciated.
