Spotify from the main Mac M1 menu bar not working for play after pause.

My Question or Issue:

Note: Recently coming from a Windows, so might not be exact with the terminology.

So I have the spotify icon on the taskbar down below, and I played music with it on my likes list by playing the first song. The playlist kept on playing as expected.

The icon on the top task bar though did not change with the songs. But if I click on pause, the spong pauses, but when I click on play, the song does not play. Same with the forward icon, cannot forward the song. Only pause works. And image still doesn't change, until I click on the app icon on the bottom menu bar and open the complete spotify desktop app and not the widget only.

• Is this on all devices or only this Mac?
• When did this start happening?
• The exact Spotify Versions you use.
• Screenshots or a video of the behaviour
